(Celebrating the 130th Anniversary of U.S. – Korea Diplomatic Relations)
In high anticipation of a singularly unique event, the celebration of 130th anniversary of U.S. – Korea Diplomatic Relations, Korean Cultural Service of New York (KCSNY) and Korea Music Foundation (KMF) will co-present the New York premiere of the Chamber Music Society of KUMHO Art Hall (hereinafter “CMS”). Renowned conductor Daejin Kim will lead the CMS through a robust playlist featuring the works of Francis Poulenc, Jean Francaix, and Antonin Dvorak.
Chamber Music Society of KUMHO Art Hall
In March of 2007, the Chamber Music Society of KUMHO Art Hall, Korea’s very first ensemble in residence was formed. Since its establishment the CMS has performed many successful concerts including all Brahms program, “Brahms Essentials” series as well as other programs with direct focuses on Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn and other great composers. Throughout each season, the CMS performs with the CMS Junior Members (comprised of University Students), in a chance for the young musicians to learn, experience and perform on stage with the respected musicians of our time. Showcasing a variety of programs and presenting lost works of the great composers, the CMS performances have also included special guest appearances from the members of the renowned Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Moreover, with a liberal and yet genuine approach to chamber music, the CMS has researched and performed sustainable repertoires throughout the years. Receiving invitations from other festivals and art halls, and broadening the horizon in chamber music of Korea through successful performances, the CMS is home of the 16 well-celebrated, distinguished artists along with its music director Dae Jin Kim, 4-5 guest performers and Junior Members.
